This is a delicious way to get around its goopy texture. To make this nourishing dish, simply mix half a cup of chia seeds to two cups of low fat milk. You can add in a half a teaspoon of vanilla extract for added flavor and top with seasonal fruits. This can make for an excellent breakfast or dessert snack.
You can simply mix a tablespoon of chia seeds together with your favorite fruit to make a cooling smoothie. Best fruit choices to use for an even healthier smoothie are bananas, raspberries, strawberries, peaches and avocado.
All you need is to add in about half a cup of chia seeds to a cup and a half of pureed fruit to create a naturally homemade fruit jam.
For a high-powered protein snack, combine equal parts of chia, sunflower and pumpkin seeds and oats with a few tablespoons of flaxseeds, extra virgin olive oil and water. Spread the dough thinly on a baking sheet and bake for 30 to 40 minutes until crisp brown.
You can use chia seeds as a crispy coating when making a crusted fish recipe. Simply combine ¾ cup of cornmeal and half a teaspoon of chia seeds. Spread some mayonnaise on the fish and coat the fish with the chia mixture. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
